When my alarm goes off at 4:30 in the morning the sky is already shifting from dark to light and the birds are singing. I’ve switched out the clothes in my kid’s drawers from winter to summer, the vegetable garden has been planted, and last week I saw on Facebook that the berry farm we usually go to will be open soon. It’s not yet officially summer, but it’s imminent. Hurrah!
I’m so very happy to have Seattle illustrator Kelly Bjork as the June artist for Post Art Northwest. I love Kelly’s depictions of life’s quiet, everyday moments, and the unwavering honesty that I see in her work is always inspiring.
SIX QUESTIONS FOR KELLY
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Do you consider yourself an introvert, and extrovert, or somewhere in between the two?
Definitely an introvert. I’ve been told I appear to be an extrovert, but I think that is because when I go out to socialize, I give it all I’ve got; then I need to go home to be alone and recharge for a good while.
What are your top three Seattle area restaurants?
Do you have a favorite book?
Sex for One: The Joy of Self-Loving by Betty Dodson — this magical book taught me how to have my first orgasm, I owe this books SO MUCH!
What was the last book you read? Did you like it?
You Can’t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain by Phoebe Robinson — would recommend this book to everyone. She goes deep into talking about race and gender while making you laugh out loud throughout the entire book, absolutely loved it.
